FAQ
These are some of the enquiries people make regarding bookings.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: For a private booking, of 2-3 hours within about 20 miles of my home,Clitheroe, £160.00. A little more if extra travelling time.
For regular bookings at a hotel or restaurant I can offer you a good value price. This is dependant on
what is required.
Q: How much room do you need?
A: In hotels and particularly restaurants I know space is sometimes at a premium in dining areas. With this
in mind I use compact equipment specifically designed for the purpose and perform sitting on a stool
with the amplifier behind me.
The floor area required is about 4ft x 4ft.
Q: Volume?
A: Playing the type of music I do with this type of presentation I would not usually be expected to play loud
music.I am usually required to play in a reserved fashion often in areas where customers are relaxing
in conversation and eating. Having said that if the occasion is a larger one where an appropriate
volume may be a little higher this is not a problem.
The volume is allways entirely at the discretion of the client.
Q: Do you play music to dance to?
A: I do cover a wide variety of styles and some of these songs are for instance latin, quick step, bossa
nova, and romantic songs which are fine for dancing to if the mood takes you.On the other hand much
as I love playing rock and roll or disco this is not not what I am providing here with this music.
.My repertoire is more for situations where people relaxing, talking and eating.
Q: What equipment do you use?
A: The style of music I am presenting here is melodic and features the guitar so I play a semi acoustic
electric guitar, often referred to as a jazz guitar,to give a rich warm sound to the music. I also use an
acoustic guitar for some of the bossa numbers and tunes by Sting Van Morrison,Paul Simon as these
artistes themselves do. .My amplifier is a very high quality compact unit by AER as used by top
professionals throughout the world.
Q: You perform solo ,is it a full sound?
A: I do also perform accompanied by a double bass player sometimes as a duo, and we can add
percussion to form a trio if required.
Generally when I perform solo I use a backing track which is taken from the recordings on my CD. Can I
emphasize here, because this is very important, this is used entirely from a practical point of view so
that I can feature some melodic guitar playing. It is used in a very subtle way and is not a substitute for
musical ability.Generally what is heard is the voice and the guitar and hopefully the sound of customers
enjoying themselves and the odd applause here and there!
Q:Do you work through entertainment agencies?
A:I am quite happy be booked through an entertainment agency. If you contact me I can put you in touch
with an entertainment agent I usually work with, also wedding organizers, and outside catering.
